How long have you been in business?
Stuart David has been in business since 1960. Over 50 years of manufacturing quality, solid-hardwood furniture.
What is your primary product or service?
We manufacture soem of the finest hardwood furniture in the industry. We have a factory and showroom at 3419 Railroad Ave in Ceres, CA and a new showroom at 5140 Madison Ave in Sacramento, CA.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Our Stuart-David Home Furnishings story began in 1960 as Stuart’s Cabinet Shop owned by Stuart Neilson and his wife Lela who designed custom cabinets for local homes. Stuart’s gained a reputation for beautifully crafted, extremely durable cabinets that would withstand the test of time. With a hankering to construct furniture, Stuart and Lela’s son, David designed an antique-like roll top desk that was taken around to the nearby antique reproduction stores by a family friend in 1980. The demand for these desks, and soon after, other pieces of furniture, was so great that Stuart’s Fine Cabinet Shop was ready to show the world its furniture in its own small store on “J” Street in Modesto, California. At this point, the shop took on its new name, Stuart’s Fine Furniture. Soon after the “J” Street opening, Stuart’s re-located to a larger showroom on Tully Ave. Stuart’s Fine Furniture soon became a hot item and much in demand. The early retail phase, however, was very demanding, while still creating the impressive line they have today. So, a few years later, Stuart’s sold its location to Marilyn’s. Stuart’s son, Dave had taken over the business then and it has continued to grow and prosper. Stuart-David Home Furnishings has a reputation for creating the finest quality hard wood furniture with every piece made with honor, integrity, and pride. David Neilson’s family and children continue to be a vital and creative part of the business today, positioning Stuart-David for decades of progress, growth and development. Our Stuart-David furniture is made to be used and appreciated by young and old alike. Much emphasis is placed on selecting the finest woods first and then letting the gorgeous, organic forms of cherry, maples and quarter-sawn oak, and other woods speak for themselves. Finishes and dyes have been key to our success as these bring out the beauty of the natural wood grain. Stuart-David Home Furnishings has been an enduring tradition, with superior craftsmanship, an unshakeable philosophy of excellence and dedication—these are the bedrock fundamentals of the Stuart-David ethic, and the reason that Stuart-David produces America’s premium hardwood furniture today and has for the past fifty years. First off, we use only the finest hardwoods in America and we manufacture our furniture right here in Ceres, California. Our customers have many choices and options, soemthing they won't find with furniture stiores that only import from "offshore". With Stuart David, as our customer, you have choices in wood, color and hardware, and with most furniture can modify it to meet your space and room needs.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have two showrooms now and provide wholesale furniture nationwide to our network of dealers also.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards, and also provide financing through Wells Fargo & GE Capital.
Which areas do you service?
We serve the nine western states with our dealer base, and Central California through our retail locations.

What are your hours of operation?
We are open from 10-5pm Monday through Saturday and are closed on Sundays.
